4 Implications of Not Updating to Window

4 Implications of Not Updating to Windows 8

News of Windows 8 being available for release in the near future is probably causing some amount of concern with many computer users, especially those who are not very literate. There are still many Windows users who are using Windows XP. Windows 8 is predicted to be released sometime next year. There will be those who want to download it immediately and those who will do their best to avoid it. So the question has to be asked, what will happen if you don’t download it and upgrade your operating system?

  • Initially, Not Much. Just as there are people who are still using Windows XP, those people who did not upgrade to Vista or Windows 7, there will be little that happens if you don’t upgrade immediately to Windows 8. That does not mean there will be subtle differences and problems that start to appear.
  • Applications. Just as important as the operating system of your computer, software applications provide a great amount of importance to everything you do. A newer operating system means all the applications for that operating system will also update soon after the OS release. The newer application software will include greater features than the previous ones. A perfect example is of a chat program that now includes video chat functions. Those updates normally come about as a result of the ability to provide those services. That ability comes from the operating system. If you can’t update your application because your older system does not allow it, you cannot communicate and share information with others who have. This is where the slow important changes of an operating system start to be present. Slowly, application by application, feature by feature, we fall behind everyone else.
  • Support. The companies that produce applications, the people who specialise in providing information on applications and operating systems gradually focus on newer products. This means when we meet problems with our older software, it becomes harder to find the solutions. This does not mean that information is not out there, it means the total amount of information is always increasing, and therefore, the older information on outdated products loses relative importance. It becomes harder to find, and it becomes less relevant to the whole market. This means we find ourselves in a situation where we can get less and less support.
  • Dysfunctional. Ultimately, we will fall far enough behind where anything we want to do does not work. This is only a matter of time. Generally speaking, the better the improvements in the operating system, the faster and more radically they will be adopted by manufacturers, developers and other consumers. This will probably be the case with the Windows 8 download.

Microsoft has not brought about any changes with its Windows operating system, since it was launched as Windows 95, with the scale of change that is a part of the Windows 8 improvements and update. Simply put, it will be a necessity to change and update with it, as soon as possible for just about every normal user.

If you have any questions, then please feel free to ask in the comments below. Also don’t forget to share this article on Twitter, Digg, Facebook. We truly appreciate your support.

How to Recover those Deleted Files in computer

If you use a computer, then you must be aware of the particularly hair raising experience of deleting files from the computer inadvertently. Most of us have faced it at one time or another. It takes only a careless moment and you can ruin you work and data. I have been guilty of the same mistake a number of times. Once you do it, then you have two solutions. Either you can call the data recovery experts who will charge fees or try some free software tricks yourself.

When you delete a file, it is not deleted totally from the system. The computer changes the file and makes it invisible and marks the space as empty. The file is deleted only when the space is reused by the system and fresh data is written over the old one. Even then some part of the file may survive which can be recovered by the experts. This data is of great interest to the security and forensic experts.

How to Recover those Deleted Files

Some free programs that can be used to recover deleted files include:

Glary Undelete

This is a basic program for file recovery and is one of the slowest listed here as well, though this has a very useful feature of find out the full name of the deleted files. This enables searching and finding the right files a lot easier. It can be found here.

MiniTool Power Data Recovery

This is a very nifty program that will enable you to recover deleted files and you can also save data from damaged partitions and other storage devices like pen drives, memory cards and cd’s. The tool outs the recovered files in folders but you have to drill down to find the actual file. Once the file is found, it can be saved by clicking on the save files option. The tool can be found here.

Recuva

This tool has fewer features than the one above but it does the job. This tool has a handy feature that enables you to preview the recovered file before saving. This helps as sometimes the names of the files are changed by the system.

The above tools will enable you to recover lost files but you also need to be careful and keep in mind that once a file is deleted, the computer should not overwrite in the space that becomes available. As soon as you realize that a file has been deleted, stop the computer. Close all programs as they can overwrite on the free space. Do not switch off or restart the system. If you do not have a file recovery tool installed, then use another computer to download it and install in a different partition.

Always remember that more you use a computer after deleting a file, lesser are the chances of recovery. If you want that no one should be able to recover data from your machine, then use a tool that cleans the empty space on the computer before you switch it off.

This article tells you about how to run android operating system in your desktop computer, you can either use disks or can run it inside windows using virtual

Now everyone must know the Hype thats going all around about the Android Operating System from Google. Now you might plan to buy a Android powered Smartphone or Tablet, but the question is will you be able to operate it without any difficulty as a average user or will you corrupt the entire system? Well need not worry now... Here is a Guide to run the same Sndroid, that runs on a smartphone, on your very own PC!!!

Don't worry about messing up your PC since we are going to run Android in a Virtual Environment... In a Virtual Harddisk which is just like any other file on your PC... It is completely isolated from your PC Operating System...

Please feel free to ask any doubts, clear difficulties, or just say Hello in the Comment section...

First things First....
Now before beginning the 'Operation Android', you need to have certain things (Files and Applications) which are freely available over the internet
1)The Android Installation File
Download it here
Download the file 'android-x86-2.2-generic.iso' it is about 82.4MB

2)Virtual Box (To run Android virtually without affecting anything on your PC)
Download it here

3)Java Development Kit (JDK)
Download it here

Ok now that you have downloaded all the necessary files... Install 'Virtual Box' and the 'JDK'...

Now lets Begin the 'Operation Android'

Step1: Setting Up

-Run the VirtualBox application
-Select 'New' at the top
-Press 'Next' at the Wizard Screen
-Now Enter the Name for your OS (Here I have named it as Android Froyo)
-Set the Operating System (OS) and the Type, both to 'Other'

-On the next Screen set the RAM size to 427 MB or more
-Boot Harddisk > Create New Harddisk > Dynamically Expand Storage
""Dynamically Expand Storage means the size of the virtual harddisk created expands if necessary""
-Virtual Disk Location and Size : Select the location and name the harddisk (Here I have named it as android froyo.vdi); Set the hard disk size to 2 GB (It increases automatically if necessary)
"".vdi is just an extension for the VirtualBox application's Virtual Harddisk""
-Now Press 'Finish'

Step2: Advanced Settings (The step can be skipped)

-Select 'Settings' at the top
-System > Boot Order > First will be the harddisk and next will be the CD/DVD ROM (See the Image for Reference)

-Display > Video Memory > 64 MB
-Storage > CD/DVD Drive > Choose a Virtual CD/DVD Disk Drive (Small CD icon on the top Right) > Locate the 'android-x86-2.2-generic.iso' file which you just downloaded.
"" Now in the mid-screen 'Empty' beside the CD icon changes to 'android-x86-2.2-generic.iso'"" (See image for reference)

That's it now go back to the VirtualBox Home Screen

Step 3: Installing Android to the Virtual Harddisk you just created

-On the home screen press 'Start' at the top
-Now you can run Android without installing it on the harddisk just like you run Linux Distros from a Live CD/DVD

OR (Recommended)

-Select 'Install Android to Harddisk'
-Create/Modify Partitions
-Select 'New '> Primary > Set size to '1024' > Select 'Beginning' > Select 'Bootable' > Write > YES > Quit

- Select 'sda1 Linux VBOX HARDDISK' > ext3 > YES > Install Boot Loader Grub: YES > Install /system directory as read-write: YES
"" This will install Android on the Virtual Harddisk 'android froyo.vdi'""

Step 4: Running Android on PC!!!

-Just Select 'Run Android x86' on the next Screen

That's it Folks... Now you have the Android Operating System running on your PC...
User your PC Mouse as your finger and operate in the interface just like anyother smartphone...
Explore the Andriod World... Check out Each and Every bit of the OS...
To power off, reboot, silent mode etc just press 'F6' on your keyboard...

Step 5: A few more easy tips

-Run VirtualBox Application
-Right click on Android Froyo > Create Shortcut on Desktop

Now your Android OS is on your Desktop and it takes just a Click to Start

Select any of the first two options while booting into Android
""HDPI gives a large display & MDPI gives a medium display""

Will keep updating this article everytime I discover something new, especially the thing which you might have observed in Step 4 where you get an option to Create a Fake SD Card.. But selecting that option, after reboot, the Grub opens and I'm not yet able to get the right Commands there... So will fix that soon...

Well folks Just Enjoy your new Android OS....

Any Feedbacks, suggestions, things you discovered in OS, doubts, enquiries, just anything is allowed in the Comment Box Below...

Keep visiting for New Updates...

How To Maximize The Battery Life Of Your Android Phone

f-batterylife

The Android phone: it can do everything… except hold a charge. It’s a common rant: all the fancier phones seem to never hold enough juice to last more than a couple of days at a time. Some phones might even die midday despite just sitting there on your desk the whole time.

While this is definitely a big issue for a lot of Android users, you don’t need to get an extra battery just yet. A lot of Android experts have made it their goal to find the best way to conserve their phone’s battery. Check out a few tips below, these might just solve your battery woes.

1. Tweak your display settings.

Try lowering the brightness of your phone when indoors. More often than not, the light inside will be bright enough to see your phone’s screen clearly even with the backlight turned way down. Adjust it to a comfortable level though since you still want your phone to be useable. Turn off automatic brightness as well.

Hand-in-hand with lowering the brightness of your phone, you can also reduce the time until the screen turns off when not in use. Unless you plan to use your phone very often (for checking incoming mails for instance), try to put this at the lowest setting possible.

Another thing that helps is to use a dark, static wallpaper. That’s part of the reason many Android menus have a black background: it consumes the least amount of power and resources. Stay away from live wallpapers and choose a wallpaper that’s mostly black or just use a black background altogether.

2. Turn off wireless services you don’t need.

Your Android phone has lots of wireless radios, with some you probably don’t even use: Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and more. Turning off some of these when you don’t need them will definitely help extend your battery life. For instance, you can turn off WiFi when you’re on the road or shutdown 3G if your office cubicle doesn’t have good reception. You can quickly toggle these on and off by using Android’s built-in power widget, your phone’s custom widgets or one from the Market like Extended Controls.

If want a quick and dirty way of shutting off everything in one go, put your phone in Airplane or Flight mode. You can quickly toggle this with a long press of the power button, or with one of the widgets I mentioned. It’s not for everyone but it’s helped me save some juice at times I don’t really need my phone’s wireless capabilities, like when I’m in a meeting or while I’m asleep.

3. Tone down data usage

If you don’t have a data plan and use your phone as more for calls and texts, then switching to GSM or 2G will save you some battery life versus the power-hungry 3G mode. Go to Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode and choose GSM only. Even if you do have a data plan, GSM is still a battery-saving alternative if you mainly use it to get your emails. Related tip: If and when you do need to surf the web, try to use WiFi whenever possible instead of 3G as well.

You can also disable autosync. Many social apps like Facebook and Twitter let themselves into your autosync preferences without telling you what they’re up to. Rein them in by going to Settings > Accounts and Sync, then tap the misbehaving app. Uncheck the boxes so that it doesn’t sync. Don’t worry, you can still sync those account manually if you need to.

You might also want to check your other social apps like Tweetdeck. They often have their own sync schedule in their settings which aren’t visible in the Android Settings.

Another way to save some power is to make your built-in mail app check less frequently. By default, it checks for new messages every 15 minutes which can be quite a strain on your battery. Make it check every hour instead or even better, let it update manually. If your email client is your lifeline, then set it to “push” instead so you still get instantaneous email access. Surprisingly, this always-on setting consumes less power as well. Not all Android email clients support push though but if you’re looking for one, use K-9 Mail or if you’re on Gmail, just use that app instead (it’s push email so you’re safe).

4. Uninstall pesky apps.

Some apps just don’t know when to quit, making them almost malware-like in their persistence to stay running. Remove them by going to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications. Just tap on the rogue apps and hit Uninstall to be rid of them. For particularly clingy apps, you might need to go to Settings > Location and Security (or Security for some phones) > Select Device administrators, and uncheck the app there to be able to uninstall them.

5. Temper your widget usage, especially those that use data.

Widgets are one of the main draws of Android, showing you the information you need right on your home screen. On the other hand, they are also notorious for draining power most especially those that connect to the internet. If the battery drain outweighs the convenience these widgets provide, just remove them from your home screen. You can check the info using the main app anyway.

6. Cool down your phone.

Keeping your phone in a warm place reduces its battery capacity over time. Avoid placing your phone in warm places like near a sunny window, on your car’s dashboard or on top of your computer monitor. Don’t hide your phone in your pants pocket all the time as well since us mammals are heat source,s too.

Also often times when charging or tinkering with it on your desk, you phone might get a bit toasty. Utilize a dock or stand to make it both easier to use and to let it cool down faster, instead of putting it flat on the table. I use an inexpensive but classy aluminum business card holder for my phone (like the one you see above), something you can easily get at any office supplies store.

7. Don’t use task killers.

Some outdated articles out there recommend you use task killers to save battery charge. My tip: don’t use them. You might be killing apps willy nilly but often what you really want is to remove runaway, CPU-hungry apps instead of those that are just sitting in your RAM. Killing those apps actually makes your phone consume even more power because those apps usually start themselves up again right after and drain power, instead of sitting happily in RAM ready to be used.

If you must use a task killer, get something that shows you CPU-usage instead of RAM (sadly, the one built into your phone doesn’t do this). Something like Watchdog Task Manager (Lite)will do the trick, which alerts you when an app goes above a certain amount of CPU cycles so you can kill it if needed.

8. Automate your power conservation.

If you’re the tinkering type, there are a lot of apps available that you can use to automatically change the settings we’ve mentioned above. Some of the go to apps are Juice Defender(easiest one to use) and Tasker (most customizable). Other apps that can help are Power Schedule (shuts off stuff at based on the time of day) and Llama (shuts off stuff based on where you are).

Conclusion

Until such time that Android phone manufacturers create a phone that lasts a week with heavy usage, you just have to be more mindful of the way your phone uses your battery. I’m not saying you use your Android phone less; on the contrary, you need your phone to sip less power when it’s not in use. That way, you have enough juice when you do need to use it. Your best bet is to automate the settings above and to remove the fancy stuff that you don’t really need, like live wallpapers and
